A sunny day in the field
It was a hot day in the field, particularly hot. But I had already had this place in mind and knew that I could paint wonderfully in the shade here. The heat made it quiet. Only a few brave volunteers from Natuurmonumenten were busy removing birch growth nearby for a while.
When they left, I was left all alone. With music in my ears, I started painting with concentration. Until I suddenly got the feeling that someone was watching me...
To my surprise, it was a large heron. He was standing at the top of the hill and was carefully peering down around the corner. When he realized that I had seen him, he turned around very slowly and walked away almost on tiptoe. What a funny sight! I couldn't help myself and stood there laughing on the forest path by myself. I certainly didn't expect a spying heron here!
