Een Winterwonderland Ontwaakt
I'm back in Sweden, and this morning, as I gazed out of the window, I saw it—it was time. Snow! Like a child on Christmas morning, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
I started my day with a serene walk to explore the wintry landscape. Then, without hesitation, I bundled up warmly and headed outside to paint. The scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful, and the tranquility is almost otherworldly.
Around me, tiny birds fluttered and foraged, their gentle movements the only signs of life. Everything else was still—just nature, the snow, and the crisp, cold air. An icy wind swept through, prompting me to work on a smaller canvas to suit the challenging conditions.
Looking back, that decision proved wise. By the time my baby wipes began to freeze solid, my painting was complete. It was the perfect moment to retreat indoors and savor the warmth once again.
"Icy Wind," oil on canvas, 24 x 30 cm, 2025.
